Welcome to the August edition of the Ultimate Coffee Date hosted by Coco and Deborah.  It’s also time for another edition of Fit Five Friday hosted by My First 5K and More, Running with AttitudeRun Laugh Eat PieRuns with Pugs, and me!

Now, grab a mug of your favorite beverage, and let’s chat briefly!

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I am excited to see Desi at the Chicago Marathon.  I won’t be running but will be at my usual spot spectating.  It is much more fun than running!

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that we are two weeks out from our first day of school and no word on when we can go into our classroom to start setting it up.  That is stressing me out because it takes me DAYS to set it up.  We have two days of Institute (8/18 and 8/21) with our first day with our students on the 22nd.  I have a few meetings in the next two weeks and I am doing a couple of things at home for my students – time is precious!!

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that a friend of mine invited me for the weekend on a trip to Mexico City.  She is going with her daughter and sister-in-law.  I was interested and bought a ticket.  It is for 4 days but it is still enough for a nice getaway.  The other day I had lunch with my cousin and she also invited me to go to Mexico (Aguascalientes) for her daughter’s wedding.  That is tempting too!  Now I am torn on which trip to take.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I had Southwest credits and got a ticket to go to NY in November.  I will be there to visit my nephews and spectate the NYC Marathon.  I am looking forward to this trip for many reasons.  The only thing I don’t like is that I have parent/teacher conferences on November 6th so I would need to be on the first flight back on Monday morning.  That is what I did in March.  I guess I can come back Sunday night.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that after looking at different venues for my mom’s birthday party next month, I secured a place for it.  It will be lunch at Paisan’s Pizzeria.  I already sent invites to family members and a few have already confirmed.  My sister and I will be picking out the menu.  Luckily there are several options to pick from since we don’t want pizza.  I will get some decorations and confirm the guests’ attendance closer to the date of the party.

  1. I hope all goes well with the new school year…that would be frustrating not being able to have ample time to get your classroom ready.

  2. I have a friend running Chicago and would love to go. Instead I may go to Fla in Dec.

    Your Mexico trips sound fun.

I’m excited you’re coming to NYC. Hope we can meet up this time.

  3. I get stressed when I can’t plan. I hope you get things sorted out soon!

Do you have to choose which trip or could you do both? My daughter and I had 3 full days in Portland and it was enough, although we didn’t have much down time. I usually like to have 5-day trips—long enough but not too long.

    • If I stay an extra day or two I could do both trips. The wedding is about a 6 hour drive. My ticket to Mexico City is refundable so I need to think this thoroughly and decide. 😀

  4. I’m so glad that you’re finally getting that trip to Mexico — or maybe two? Good luck choosing!

Try your best not to worry so much about setting up your classroom — it will get done and you just can’t control what’s going on. I know this is terribly frustrating, but . . . good luck!

    • A friend of mine told me the same thing. If it doesn’t get done then it doesn’t get done. She is absolutely right but I have not being ready and rushing to get things done.

      • I HATE being rushed & it is stressful, so I totally get it.

But you can’t change it so do the best you can. You know what? The students won’t care & it’s for them!

  5. Wow, you have some fun trips coming up! And some fun marathon spectating. I love Des! I hope she has a good race.
Yes, I guess this is the time where all teachers start to freak out. My husband is getting really stressed as well. And that is extra hard if you don’t know when you can get in to set up! Why does it always seem like they try to make things as hard as possible. Isn’t just teaching hard enough??? Anyway, good luck with it all.

  6. Your mom’s party is going to be wonderful, I just know it. She will love it.

I hope you get your date to move in soon. It’s so much work and you shouldn’t have to stress about it.

All of your trips sound amazing. We have a bunch of road trips to Orlando and Alabama. Nowhere near as excting.

  7. I can’t believe it’s back-to-school time already. My daughter starts next week. Hope your room setup goes well. The Mexico trips sound amazing, whichever one you choose! Happy Birthday to your mom!

  8. I’m in denial that back to school time is here…I’m not ready for the summer to end! I hope you enjoy your Mexico trip, whichever one you choose, it seems you can’t go wrong!

Thank you for your comment!
