12. Friday and weird dreams

I am doing NaBloPoMo this month. 30 blog posts in 30 days. Come join me. #nablopomo2022

Who doesn’t love Friday?  To me it is one of my favorite days of the workweek.  I also love Mondays.  Well, I love it when I don’t have to go to work.

The day went back quickly.  In the morning the students painted with watercolors and listened to music by Selena.  I love that many of them know who she is and have heard her music.  I danced for a little bit with one of my students.  In the afternoon I subbed for another teacher.  It was my first time in that classroom and I got to see many of my students from last year.  I see them occasionally in the school but it was my first time in their classroom.  After school I stayed late for a bit to do my lesson plans for Monday.  I will be off that day because I am taking my mother to the doctor.

This morning I woke up after having a very weird dream.  This is what I remember:

  • It was my birthday and we were in a cafeteria.
  • There were friends of mine from college.
  • We were at work.  That is even more weird because I do not work with any of my college friends.
  • A friend was making lemonade using Gatorade.
  • Somehow I had two chickens on a plate.
  • I then had to cross a pool/river (some kind of body of water) to pick up my students while holding the tray.
  • Somehow one of the chickens fell inside the body of water.
  • I realized I didn’t have to be in the water but instead walk on the cement/sidewalk to get across.
  • I was very late picking up my students and hoped that another teacher picked them up for me.

That dream makes no sense at all.  Well, the one thing that makes sense is my birthday since it is coming up.

11. Sunrises in the morning and making a decision

I am doing NaBloPoMo this month. 30 blog posts in 30 days. Come join me. #nablopomo2022

One of the best things about waking up in the morning is seeing the sunrise.  I enjoy it.  I love the beautiful colors.  It gives me a warm feeling and somehow makes me feel like everything will be all right.

I saw these yesterday.

Work was OK.  One kid misbehaved in the afternoon and that left me in a bad mood.  He is a cute and funny kid.  He makes me smile and laugh.  He also likes to hug me.  But sometimes his behavior is horrible.  I’ve talked to him and to his mom several times.  But I am a firm believer that kids act out for a reason.  I am determined to figure out his reason.

I decided not to move forward with purchasing the house.  I felt very overwhelmed with all of the repairs.  I thought about it a lot.  I reviewed carefully the inspection report.  I was reminded that the house was on the lower end and that many houses will need repairs.  Yes, very true.  But deep down inside it just didn’t feel right anymore.

As much as I want to buy a house, I have a fear of being a home owner.  Years ago I bought a condo and don’t remember being this scared/nervous.  I feel like owning a home comes with more responsibilities.  I will still keep looking because I know the “perfect” house is out there for me.  But I am hoping it is one that won’t need too many repairs.

10. Loving this warm weather and a new student

I am doing NaBloPoMo this month. 30 blog posts in 30 days. Come join me. #nablopomo2022

I can’t get over how warm it’s been in Chicago.  I am not complaining.  I LOVE it!  I also like that it is light at 6:30am but do not like that it is dark at 5pm.

I love running in shorts and did that yesterday.

I wish I could say that I’ve been running during this warm weather, but I have not.  I know.  I need to do better about making time in the morning for me to get out and run.

It will drop to 30 degrees next week and am not liking that at all.  I guess it was bound to happen since it is November.

Yesterday I had a new student in my room.  He is a sweet kid.  I cannot find the right word to describe it but a new student is challenging.  I have to go over the rules, expectation, etc for him.  I have to explain everything again for him.  I already have a routine with my students and now feel like I am taking two steps back.  But, that is the job.  I want him to feel welcomed in my class.  I want him to feel safe.  I want him to succeed.  And that is what I am going to do.

9. A time to vote and a day off

I am doing NaBloPoMo this month. 30 blog posts in 30 days. Come join me. #nablopomo2022

It felt good to be off yesterday.  I had parent/teacher conferences on Monday till 7pm.  Somehow I woke up with a headache on Tuesday morning.  That rarely happens so not sure why that happened.  I got up, ate breakfast, and did some things around the house.  Then I went to vote and then met the inspector for the house inspection.

Let me say that I am having second thoughts about the house.  I received the report and and feeling very overwhelmed by it.  The house needs more work than I was expecting.  Of the 61 items that were inspected, 21 are safety hazards ranging from plumbing, to electrical, to moisture damage due to water seepage from the yard.  Part of me says to go for it and hire a contractor to fix the items and another part of me says to forget about it and keep looking.

I knew it was too good to be true.  Didn’t I say that yesterday?

Time to think about and make a decision.

8. Parent/teacher conferences and my biggest aspiration

I am doing NaBloPoMo this month. 30 blog posts in 30 days. Come join me. #nablopomo2022

Yesterday was a long day for me.  I woke up at my usual time, drank my coffee, and checked email.  Then I went to the car shop to have my tires checked out, went to eat breakfast, went to Target, then to the bank, and finally made it to work.  I was there by 9:30am.  I had conferences from 11:30am-3:30pm with a break for lunch/dinner and then again from 5:00-7:00 pm.  Almost everyone showed up which is a good thing.

This was my breakfast and it was yummy.

Mimosas sounded much better.  😀

Many of you know that I’ve been wanting to buy a house for a long time.  I’ve seen many, many houses, and there were some I liked and others I did not.  The housing market has been booming with houses selling for $100k or more from one year ago.

On Saturday I went to see a house and liked it a lot.  The price was lower than what I’ve seen in previous months.  I put in an offer and it was accepted.  To say I am excited is an understatement.  However, part of me still cannot believe it and am “waiting” for something to go wrong.  Why am I being so negative?  I feel like it is too good to be true.

Today is the house inspection and am crossing my fingers that no major repairs need to be done.  If all goes well, I will close, and can move in before the end of the year.  How’s that for ending 2022 with a bang!

I am also linking up with Tuesday Topics!  Make sure to join the linkup!
