I have enough running gear that I seriously do not need to buy more.  But that did not stop me from placing two orders last week.  I have no self control.

Last week I posted on Instagram that I had 6 new pairs of shoes in boxes.  I found a pair of the Brooks Levitate 1 in my room.  No more shoes for me.  I hope Brooks does not make anymore cute shoes that would want me to buy them.  I do have enough pairs to last me for at least 2 years.

I also have plenty of socks, tops, jackets, shorts, and pants.  Let’s not forget the accessories.  So where do I buy all of this good stuff?

✔️ Oiselle.  This where I buy most of my running clothes.  Like most running clothes, it isn’t cheap but I’ve been able to purchase a lot of it on sale.  If it is something that I like very much (i.e. long rogas) then I will buy them at full price.  Sometimes by the time there is a sale, the ones I want are no longer available.  I must have about 30 pairs of the long rogas (that is how much I like them).

✔️Running Warehouse and Zappos.  I love their great customer service.  I’ve never had any problem with any of my orders or returns.  Running Warehouse’s return policy is 90 days but they’re accepted a few of mine past 90 days.  Zappos’s return policy is one year.  How awesome is that!!

✔️ Amazon.  Pretty much everything can be bought on Amazon.  I’ve ordered Tailwind, Huma gels, UCAN, Nathan handheld, and a Nathan hydration running vest.  I also have a monthly subscription for Nuun.  With the hot weather I’ve been drinking A LOT of it.  Is there such a thing as drinking too much Nuun?

Tuesday Topics: End of the Year Review

Hard to believe that it is the last day in December!  Oh and it is the last day of this decade.  The plan was to stay home today, go to bed early, and wake up to 2020.  However, my cousin invited us over to her house to celebrate.  It is supposed to be cold and it snowed this morning so I am not sure if my mother would want to go.  We’ll see.

I like to look back and write about my running stats.  I like seeing how I did and think about what I want to change or do different next year.  In late November I started working with a new coach and am excited to see how I do next year.  I have a lot of old PRs and I would like to set some new ones in 2020.

For now let’s check out my stats:

Weekly Run Down: End of the month and 335 miles

Weekly Mileage-36.jpg

Happy Sunday!  I hope you had a great week with your family.  I had a great time and ate so much these past couple of days.  It was all yummy but not good for my waist.  🙁

How is it that we are in December?  November did go by fast and I am sure December will too.  I will be in school 3 weeks and then will have Winter Break.

I did not run a lot in November.

For some reason I did not feel good this week.  I was sneezing a lot.  For sure I thought I would get sick but I didn’t.  Could it be allergies?  I remember my doctor telling me that as one gets older, they can get allergies.

Monday morning I ran 3 miles. I forgot to delete my records last week but remembered to do it on Monday.  Happy with my fast mile.

I did not run on Tuesday but saw a beautiful sunrise.

My coach moved a few workouts because I did not feel good.  I was exhausted Tuesday and Wednesday.  Due to the changes I ended up running on Thanksgiving.  It was a fun workout.  It was 3 miles warmup and 6×1 minute intervals with 1 minute recovery, then another mile or so to end with 5 miles.  I got 2 badges!

Another record for me.  Boy, I have a lot of work to do.  🙂

Something happened with my left foot.  The top left side began to bother me.  I was supposed to run 6 miles on Saturday but didn’t because of my foot.  Plus it was raining and I did not want to run in the rain. 😜

It felt somewhat better on Sunday but I didn’t make it to one mile.  It hurt!  I went back home and sent a text to my couch.  He said it was probably due to a tight calf and tendon.  I thought it was my shoes and decided to retire my Brooks Ghost 11 with 335 miles.  I was hoping to make it to 400 miles.  How cute are my new Oiselle tights?

My coach had me do 60 minutes (20 minutes easy followed by 4 x 5 minutes fast, 5 minutes easy).  That is the longest I have been on the bike!  I thought it would be bored but I wasn’t. 😜  I biked through several cities by the sea and watched TV.

Do you have allergies?  Did you have them as a kid or “recently”?

Weekly Run Down: Cold weather and a good week of running

Weekly Mileage-33.jpg

Hello there!  It is cold here and I am not ready for it.  Well despite the weather, I made it outside for 5 runs.  I am excited because I will be running/training with DWRunning this month.  Plus, I have a half marathon next month so I had to stop being lazy and run.  🙂

I received a new pair of Oiselle tights.  They’re reflective and I love them!  For sure car drivers can see me.

Most of my runs usually end with a “0” at the end.  On Tuesday morning just when I was almost done with my run, I was about to turn into my street when I saw a van also turn and park on the street.  Coincidence?  I don’t know and I didn’t wait to find out.  I kept running to the next street (one block east) and then another block to head home.    During the day it wouldn’t have bothered me but it was still dark and it did freak me out a little.

Check out Mateo’s tie.  Doesn’t he look handsome?

I saw Deborah’s new shoes on Instagram and knew I had to get them too.  Aren’t they gorgeous?

Saturday morning was sunny but also cold and windy.  My goal was to run 1 hour.  The plan was to run for 30 minutes and then turn around to head back home.  Then I decided to run 2 miles, run to the next major street and then head back home.  I wasn’t looking at pace nor distance but figured it would be around 5 miles or so.  I got home and saved my run without looking at how far or how long I had run.  Ha, I ran 4.97 miles.  Did it bother me?  Not really.  It used to before but not anymore.

Sunday morning wasn’t too cold.  It was in the high 30s and it felt good being out there.  I ran 3 miles since I had to be back home in time to shower, get ready, and meet some friends for breakfast at 9am.

Overall, it was a good week for me.  I am pleased with my 5 days of running.  I did take one Peloton class on Thursday.  It was fun biking through France!

Weekly Run Down: Race week and almost 400 miles

Weekly Mileage-30.jpg

Brooks Shoes-17Did you see these new shoes?  They’re a beauty!  I definitely do not need them.  🙂  Right?  I have a similar pair, Ghost 11, that I bought last year.  I love those!  I use Garmin Connect to track the mileage on my shoes.  Right now I have 5 shoes that I am tracking.  A few weeks ago I decided to just run in the Ghost 11 till I get to 400 miles.  Then the next shoes I will run in are the Launch 5 and the Levitate 1.  I know it is a crazy system.  I also have 3 new pairs in boxes.  Yikes!  Update: My Ghost 11 now have 289.40 miles after today’s race.  🙂

I am so excited to run the Detroit Free Press/TCF Bank Half Marathon.  But I will say that I am not ready for it.  I think this is the first time I haven’t felt ready for a race.  Well, I think many of us have those feelings, but in my case I really am not ready.  If you’ve been reading my blog, the training hasn’t been there.  I had (have) plantar fasciitis and at one point took 3 weeks off to recover.  But my goal is to have fun and finish it!  Oh and maybe finish in less than 3:18:01 which is my worst finish time from when I ran the Walt Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon.

I ran only 2 days (one was race day).  The rest of the days I slept in.  I don’t know what is going on but I have been feeling very tired.  I wake up just in time to get ready and leave for work.

The photo below is from Monday, the day after the Chicago Marathon.  It was cold and windy the day of the marathon.  On Monday I ran 4 miles and enjoyed the sunshine and beautiful fall colors.

I received my two Koala Clips on Thursday.  Love using these on my runs!

Saturday morning I finished getting my stuff ready.  Then I had breakfast and left for the airport.  My flight left at 11:15 and I arrived in Detroit at 1:00.  Once there I took an Uber to the hotel to check in and left for the expo.  The expo was fun!  There were so many vendors and I was actually impressed with it.  Normally I don’t buy anything anymore but this time I bought 3 pairs of Balega socks (it was buy 3 pairs and get one free) and an R3 foot roller.

In the evening I had dinner and watched TV.  One of the workers from the hotel offered to take me downtown so I could see the start line.  It turns out it it close to TCF Center where the expo was held.

When I got back I got my stuff ready for the race and went to sleep.

2019 Detroit Half Marathon-1

The race was fun!  But my foot did bother me and I ended up walking a lot.  I enjoyed this race and would definitely do it again.  Oh, and I finished in 2:45:41.

Have you run a race where you did not train well for it or were not prepared?  How did it go?
