Welcome to the July edition of the Ultimate Coffee Date hosted by Coco and Deborah.  It’s also time for another edition of Fit Five Friday hosted by My First 5K and More, Running with AttitudeRun Laugh Eat PieRuns with Pugs, and me!

Now, grab a mug of your favorite beverage, and let’s chat briefly!

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I almost took 4 books from the Free Library.  I was walking back home and stopped to check out the books.  There were many kids’ books that I liked.  I picked 4 but then I remembered that I am supposed only to take one.  And I am supposed to put one in there too.  I took one book.  The next day I took another one.  I haven’t taken another one yet, but I am tempted.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that on Tuesday I ran my 5th race for the year.  It was a great day for a fun race!  I went out too fast and ended up with positive splits.  Isn’t that the way to do it?  Regardless, I enjoyed it.  July 4th is special because we emigrated from Mexico to the US on July 4, 1978 – I was 5 years old.  I will forever be grateful to my parents for making this decision.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that in May I switched insurance plans from HMO to PPO (effective July 1).  Imagine my surprise when I checked the website and saw that it is still showing up as me having HMO.  I reached out to BSBS and was told they hadn’t received the updated information from my employer.  I don’t understand how or why.  We had to make any changes (or confirm our current plan) by May 31st.  That is plenty of time to submit the changes to BSBS.  I am not the only one that this has happened.  Someone dropped the ball and we are paying for the consequences.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I recently switched website host servers.  What a stressful process!  I switched from SiteGround to HostGator.  They were using many words that I didn’t understand and sometimes I became frustrated.  At times I regretted making the change.  After spending hours with someone from HostGator, I got it transferred.  So far I haven’t had any issues and hopefully it says like this because I paid for 3 years.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I do not understand why people don’t use their real name on Facebook.  A few times I’ve logged in to see a random name.  And I don’t mean just a name I didn’t recognize but it wasn’t even a name that made sense or it was a condensed version of their name.  I get that some people want to keep their profile private but isn’t that what the privacy settings are for?

  1. Sounds like you had a good race on the 4th! I did not run one but my sister did!
I have not used Facebook in years but still have to have a personal account because my blog publishes automatically to my blog account. Apparently if you have a blog/business account, it needs to be connected to a personal account. Although I don’t even know if that is true anymore, do you know? -M

  2. There are probably a lot of reasons people don’t use their real names on FB. For me, I use my first name and middle name on Facebook because I had patients reaching out to me about their kids. Not only was that a HIPAA violation, but my employer is very strict about how we communicate with our patient and would fire me if I was caught. I can’t make my FB private because I have a ‘business’ page for my blog–FB won’t let you have a private FB page in that instance.

Too bad about the insurance debacle. I would be very upset about that too!

  3. I raced on July 4th and did the same. And it is what I usually do. I think I’m superwoman in mile 1.

I had switched my insurance a few years ago to HMO to save money.

  4. Yay on your July 4th race! I haven’t even run outside this week.

Boo on the insurance snafu. I hope it gets sorted out soon!

  5. Dealing with insurance companies can frustrating! Hope that get straightened out soon. I think there are lots of reasons that people use different names on FB especially if they work for the government etc

  6. You must be enjoying your summer vacation! I hope you’re able to relax and de-stress.
Congratulations on your race! It’s SO hard to run a 5K with negative splits (have I ever done it? Not sure…)
I hope your insurance issues get straightened out soon- that’s annoying.

  7. That’s cool that you came here on the fourth. It was the birthday of my only grandparents actually born in the US, so I’ve always thought that was cool (and think about him on the fourth).

Glad moving your site ultimately worked out. Tech problems are so frustrating.

The free library in our neighborhood actually had a table out with many free books a while ago . . . . apparently they’ve been a bit too successful!

  8. Congrats on your race! This is the first summer I don’t have any races planned and I’m not mad about it – it’s been so hot!

Glad to hear you got your site moved to Host Gator – it does take a bit to do a transfer like that but it will be worth it. I’ve not had any issues with them.

  9. hooray for your race! that’s so cool that you also emigrated on July 4th! love it!

i hope your insurance gets sorted soon. wonder just how many people are affected??

I would love to have a free library but literally take the books I don’t want anymore and don’t replace LOL! but seriously if I set a bunch of books out on a table in front of my house and put on a ‘free’ sign on there, they would be gone in no time.

  10. I feel you on the insurance. I recently got a denial because they billed an insurance I had 2 years ago. When you go in the first thing they ask you for is your insurance, which I gave, but somehow it never got in the system. Sorting it all out is the biggest PIA. Happy immigration anniversary!

  11. People are weird on Facebook. I know they change their names to make it harder to search for them. I abbreviate my last name. Insurance is such a mess. I’m sorry it’s taking so long.

  12. We have ~3 free libraries pretty close by and I recently did a whole lotta decluttering, so I need to remember to put the books I wanna donate into them! (Hopefully sometime this weekend…)

I’ve been thinking of switching my site host but dropped the ball on getting that done before I auto-renewed for another 3 years so…hopefully I remember to do this in 2026, haha.

I don’t use my real name on facebook because I was previously getting weirdo messages from strangers + also didn’t want my patients finding me. Yay for privacy settings too, but I want it harder to find!

  13. Many years ago I worked in HR, and we would often send the insurance information to the insurance companies pretty late, so they were effective retroactively. I was reminded of this recently, because my husband changed insurance mid-year, and hadn’t gotten an insurance card yet. He checked into it, and while his company website said he was enrolled, the insurance company did not have it yet. Just as when I worked in HR, they sent the information in late (perhaps they are waiting for all of the new hires to be in, I don’t remember the reasoning), and it was retroactive. Whew!

I had no idea you were only supposed to take one book from Little Free Libraries. I thought it was, Give if you have them, take if you want them. So I’ve taken a couple several times, and given a couple several times, not always at the same time. I say, keep the books you took if you want them, and give when you have something you are finished with.

    • Then I could be wrong. I honestly thought it was only one book at a time. I will give something back when I go back to work. I have books in my classroom all packed away in boxes.
